My mother was a ballet dancer…

My mother was a professional ballet dancer and teacher for many years.

I was dancing before I could walk (and we wonder why I have such dodgy knees…heh).

Cameron wants to  be a ballet teacher when she grows up.

This artform is something so incredibly beautiful.

It breaks my heart to hear about The Cape Town City Ballet. It is under severe financial threat.

So, whilst words culture, tradition and heritage are thrown about the political and global stages on a daily basis, it is a damn shame that an institution created from culture, that pays homage to our heritage and keeps a tradition alive, is battling so much.

With that in mind, some rather clever people, including those of whom I am proud to work with at The Forge have launched an initiative and an awesome competition, to try and garner some support for this cause.

Please take a moment, visit Save Cape Town City Ballet and donate.

You can win prizes and know that, one day, when your child comes to you and tells you that he or she wants to become a ballet dancer, they can. Because you would have helped to save this insitution of grace and excellence.

Stop reading. Go here. Donate. Win. Do it.
