When I take five minutes to breathe, this is what enters my head, and I can see it so clearly now:

It got me thinking.
Just doing our monthly family budget and…guys, NONE of us are okay. Not even close. The sheer COST of living is beyond insane. Donald is not bloody helping. That is frustrating in and of itself.
BUT: Humans cannot continue like this. I am genuinely concerned for humanity.
AI is not the “revolution” that will fix this. It simply makes Big Tech and Oligarchs richer. Genuinely, nobody other than the billionaires is thriving. Please, try to be gentle with people. NOBODY is coping.
I am gravely concerned for people. Everyday people, just trying to live their life in peace and a proverbial sliver of comfort. Neither are even barely possible, just for the Average Human Being.
Politics isn’t solving it. We are a disillusioned species because of failed leadership, everywhere. And it’s made us…divisive by nature, polarised, separated from each other. This is not the garden path towards humanity thriving. We HAVE to change course. Capitalism doesn’t solve. Neither does Socialism, so don’t even start.
The answer is not found in making more billionaires. The answer is not found in trying to get “better” politics.
Anyway, this just leads me more and more to all of us finding better communities to be part of, that are safe and liberating, because just trying to live as a human is so systematically isolating. And yeah, that’s what I think about when I do our damn monthly budget.

Then we get leader types pondering why people seem to be “straying away” from the Western religions, and I’m honestly kinda understanding it more, because all THAT is so tied up with Big Daddy Capitalism nowadays. And ya know? Non-Western religions have better rituals.
Why? Because I’m sorry Sir what do you mean I get to take 5 minutes to myself, in the maelstrom of JUST trying to survive, to pray to whichever deity kinda helps me stay centred and pray to them several times a day? That sounds like a mandatory 5 minute take 5 deep breaths moment.
AND you get to build a life around it. You find yourself in community. You start to find some type of…peace? Just from the rituals? Any of this dinging home yet? Yes please I will be taking a 5 minute break from this hellscape, several times a day to breathe, thanks.
But then, along comes Big Daddy Capitalism trying to “save people” from those there religions and you wonder why we end up with…fundamentalists and terrorism from both sides? C’mon man. NONE of us are coping. Where is our peace and humanity? Just. Basic. Humanity.
So then the ONLY thing I can see that’s going to save us MIGHT just be community. How do you find and feel safe in one while just trying to survive in society functions to…actively isolate you from every other person? It’s an impossible question to answer.
Btw, yes, this is exactly how I talk to people in real life, so I stand by what I say here. I assure you. I am always the bitch with the tough questions at the table. And I’m comfortable in THAT, because my dearest friends also ask the tough questions in conversation.
That’s why I’m so personally protective of the people in my inner circle, I love, and similarly to the people I work with. I care first, because goddamn someone has to see others. I really try, every single day. I don’t always get it right, but I truly hope I help people feel…
…actually SEEN. Even if it’s just for a second. And, I get it back in bunches, because I am associated with exceptional people ONLY. Those are my PEOPLE. I will defend and protect them. Someone bloody has to try. I wish a lot of people would, but then, they’re not my people.
Anyway. Yeah. Here to protect my people and love them hard. Someone I deeply respect called me a ray of sunshine the other day, and it felt nice to be seen to be actively trying. I will show up for my people aggressively and lovingly. It’s my only solace sometimes.
(That’s why I work in crypto too, by the way. It’s an industry of builders at the core of it) That is why I merrily claim and embrace the good people within it. They know EXACTLY who they are.
(Related: all of us are battling significant mental crises as a result of all this. Every single person. Mental Health Care should be mandatory and free for every single person. Entirely. The very best service, created just for them. Like, society has done this to us, guys).
That’s also why we are attracted to entertainment like Ted Lasso, Shrinking, and similar. They are reminders that actual communities are still possible.
No wonder social media is so damn addictive, when we’re basically all just trying to hopescroll through the doom. That’s why we love memes too. They remind us of community and shared understanding. Yeah, this is what I think about daily. Maybe you do too.

We’ve literally normalised cussing because just trying to find the right words to express the crushing defeat of being a human has become that difficult to express. The system is even robbing us of our words to express ourselves. That’s why we swear more, in society.
The deeper you think about it, the more you realise that we have been divided and isolated, ON PURPOSE.
That is NOT the destiny of humanity. It cannot be. We are not here to live in a competition.
We are here to live within community.
