Some Samsung Love and a Competition!

Posted on February 3, 2014

This competition is now closed. A crazy number of entries were received – thank you!

Congratulations to our winner @faffysibs, who was chosen, using random.org. Please get in touch with me and Samsung will get your prize to you!

It’s no secret that we’re a Samsung-mad family. From our televisions, fridge, mobile phones, watch and  other home appliances, Samsung is the one brand that never fails us.

So I was quite excited to find out about Samsung’s range of LED lights. We use LED lighting throughout our house and have found it to be friendlier to our eyeballs and our wallets! Has your family made the switch to LED lighting?

Here are five reasons why you should make the change and switch to LED:

  • LED lights bring 80% more energy efficiency that CFLs (compact fluorescent lamps)
  • Compared to an incandescent bulb, LED light bulbs last up to 15 times longer
  • Cost-effective and good for your electricity bill
  • Fewer light bulbs to buy and change
  • LEDs are also dimmable to the softest levels with absolutely no flickering or annoying buzz

And as a bonus, “Samsung LED lights lasts up to 40 times longer than traditional incandescent bulbs, resulting in a dramatic reduction in labour and replacement lamp costs.  At the same time they provide substantial savings on overall electricity bills, with a recoup of investment time of between one and two years,” says  Michael McKechnie, Business Leader for Digital Air Solutions at Samsung Electronics South Africa.

Now here’s the best part! The lovely folks over at Samsung have given me the opportunity to give away one Samsung LED Light hamper so you can get started on changing to the way better way to light your home!

How to enter:

1) Leave me a comment and tell me what lights up your life!

2) You can also tweet your answer using the hashtag #SamsungLED – tweet me (@cathjenkin) and Samsung (@SamsungSA)

This competition starts today (03/02/2014) and will close at midnight on Friday (07/02/2014). The winner will be contacted directly.

When I get home and kick off my shoes after a hard day at and just be so happy to be in my beatiful home and greet my neighbours cat who is always glad to see me. That is one thing I wait for everyday as I live alone.

I’m going to be the first person to answer the question honestly.
What lights up my life? The sun. The sun lights up all of our lives – and is the root power source for pretty much everything else. That nice family of yours wouldn’t exist without it, and neither would you 😉

There is actually a documentary about what would happen if the sun were covered up. It is really worth the watch: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Animatrix and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Matrix_%28franchise%29

When my little pink terrorist does a belly laugh about something silly – also when she tells me that I make the best food in the world (fish fingers and peas night!), and of course those super cuddles and I love yous in between the expected tantrums where she tells me that i am not her friend and she’s NOT inviting me to her party. 😉
I guess you could summarise it all as love…

Samsung LED lights up my life when I can resume my daily goings on under a cool white/blue light when unforeseeable lack of power arises and I can stay calm because of their tranquil glow!

Finding out that I can stream videos from my Samsung Series 7 laptop to my Samsung Series 7 TV with no wires was a pretty illuminating moment. Same goes for my Samsung Galaxy phone, now I can watch all the videos of my new niece from on my phone via big screen TV. Oh, and puppies and kittens and chocolate!

I’m greatful to God, for allowing me to wake up to a beautiful morning everyday. Life is challenging & fun. I make the most of everyday. Travelling lights up my life. Visiting different parts of our beautiful country, enjoying nature, going on game drives/tours. South Africa has so much to offer & see. I have a list of places I would still love to visit in 2014. I’m going to make my dreams a reality. #SamsungLED

Lighting is quite literally my life. As a theatre lighting designer I am always investigating new technologies and am particularly interested in LED colour temperatures – LED to tungeston halegon colour conversions consume my working hours. The idea of new energy conservant green footprints are not only exciting but imperative!

Ooh these sound great. I’ve already switched to fluorescents, but I don’t think they are as good at LEDs. I’d love to give LEDs a try!

I also love Samsung products. They look good, last well and are great value for money.

What lights up my life? Laughter!

being able to draw. it’s comforting and a way to express things that i usually can’t articulate properly. my psychiatrist is in favour of it as well so i guess that lights up my life (along with the high doses of meds hahaha)
and of course, cheesy as it is, my son. he’s my “keep going” person and the reason i make an effort to try assimilate into the “normal” world as best i can
