mermaid hunters and sunshine

Posted on January 25, 2010

You see, we live a sometimes crazy life, strung together by singing and dancing around the lounge.

It’s not common for me, as Sheena will testify, to let anyone in on it.  Seriously. Even when I let her in to our lives, it took a little time. Pretty much anyone has always been stopped at the door by my own fear of letting anyone near Cameron. Maternal, protective instincts in super-drive, usually.

And then. Then, there’s you. You who insists I sleep in for an hour on a Saturday.

You the mermaid hunter who finds Ariel yoghurts and isn’t afraid of how hardcore Hello Kitty does or does not look.

Last night, as Cam and I lay in bed eating ice-cream and talking, I truly realised how very, very brave you are.

How you cope with me and my underlying tensions, and don’t let me cop out on them. How you actually care about the little things. How you’re always holding my hand.

Cam and I must be the luckiest girls in the world.

Thank you.
