Okay, it’s time I told you.

I need a holiday.

I know that sounds ridiculous considering that we’re just finishing up on February but, this year is already going far too fast for my liking. Far. Too. Fast. There’s just a month left until the Easter school break, and that’ll mean chocolate overload and maybe, just maybe, a little sleeping in. Just once. Would be fab (do you hear me, Holiday Fairies?). I am currently ratty, annoying, whiney and feeling like I need a kick in the pants. So I’m attempting to inspire myself into a pants-kicking.

When inspiration strikes, I usually daydream. And Google. And Hah. Guess who is having a sale?

But, if I need a holiday, you probably need a holiday too.

So, here’s some good news…

  • This Competition opens on Monday, 25 February 2013 and closes on Thursday, 28 February 2013
  • A winner will be selected by random draw by Tsogo Sun Head Office
  • Winner will be announced on Friday, 1st March, in this post as an update, and then contacted by a Tsogo Sun representative via email.  Please ensure your comments reflect your active email address for this reason.
  • Prize letter terms and conditions:
    • The prize letter is for a 2-night weekend stay at a Tsogo Sun hotel of your choice within South Africa.
    • The prize letter will serve as the official voucher and covers the cost of 2 adults and 2 children sharing in a family room on a complimentary bed and breakfast
    • The prize is valid until 31 August 2013. The accommodation must be taken up within this period, as the expiry date will not be extended.
    • The prize is not transferable, may not be converted to cash and, if lost, will not be re-issued by Tsogo Sun hotels.
    • The prize may be taken at any time, subject to availability, convenient to prize winner and to the selected hotel, with the exception of school holidays, public holidays and certain other peak periods that may be identified by the hotel.

  1. Have never been to CAPE TOWN! And have attempted a few tries at sipping pink drinks on the famous waterfront watching the day seamlessly evaporate at the end of a day fandangling on the mountain with my love on my side.
    With our pending nuptials in but a few short months Glen and I are planning on making this a reality as a honeymoon!
    Exciting stuff!
    Now if I could choose I would definitely stay at The Cullinan in Cape Town. It is just a hop and a skip from the waterfront and the rooms look GAWJISSS!! Not to mention the breathtaking view of table mountain from the rooms.

    It would be a fantastic way to not only experience a destination for the first time but a delicious way to celebrate my honeymoon.

  4. I would love for me and my family to stay at the Suncoast Towers. We have had a very difficult year, financially and emotionally, and feel it would be the perfect place to relax, unwind and be refreshed. Our 4 year old daughter would love to see the Sea and the joy on her face would be priceless and a cherished memory!

  6. Got to be Drakensberg Sun. We have never had a family holiday with our boys. It’s also our 10 year anniversary this year and we honeymooned in the berg, would be awesome to go back and celebrate with our boys.

  7. Although I spent 22 years of my life in Durban, I would pick the Beverly Hills Hotel in Umhlanga.

    Purely because my dad (who lives in Jo’burg now, has been missing the beach for 6 years) and I think it’d be the best holiday, for him to be able to get back to the sound of the ocean and the smell of the saltwater, to be able to feel the sand between his toes and just lie poolside, sipping Jack Daniels, and breathing in the tranqulity. He works 6 days a week, 10-12 hours a day, and I feel that all the elements of a seaside vacation would relax him to the max.

    I know he misses Durban more than I do, and I think it’d be a great getaway for him, and an awesome opportunity to spend quality time with his kids.

  9. Wooohoooo! A holiday! You can never have too many of those but I have most definitely had too few of them in recent times. To be fair, and possibly a bit of a cop out, after perusing the Tsogo Sun website I can honestly state that there are no hotels in the group that I’d say no to spending a holiday in. At a push, and being a coastal boy myself, I’d probably choose somewhere along the Cape coast. The kids have not been to Cape Town itself, and I was last there many years ago, so the Southern Sun Waterfront hotel would probably be a great place to base oneself to explore the city.

    Hey, who knows, even if I am not lucky enough to win I might just need to take a closer look at those special offers… kids staying free is a real bonus!

  10. Caledon Casino Hotel and Spa – it’s not too far a drive from my hometown and would be an ideal break for me and my little girl – we’ve had quite a stressful time lately and need to just get away, relax and chill.

  17. Plettinberg Bay! Its far enough from home for it to feel like an actual holiday and its one of the most beautiful places in the Western Cape.

  19. We stayed at the Beverly Hills and it was amazing. Would love to try 54 on Bath too. DW status at The Cullinan whenever she is on business in Cape Town. We are the biggest Tsogo Sun fans.

    Their hotels are all gorgeous, friendly and feel like a home away from home.

  28. My African adventures have only taken me as far as Egypt, and as amazing as my adventures there were nothing inspires me more than the thought of exploring South Africa. While my boyfriend is living his dream by starting up his own business my dream and passion for travel has been put on hold for the last 14 months. If dreams came true my choice of Tsogo Hotels would be Beacon Island Resort, a taste of Africa and the Indian Ocean sounds like complete and utter perfection.

What I would do for a weekend away at the Southern Sun Waterfront Cape Town with my love. #SunbreaksEaster I could be taking in the majestic views of the city knowing that at a stone’s throw I am able to eat, drink & shop in one of the world’s most beautiful cities and just knowing I can be back in my hotel room, ready to rest, at any point makes me jittery with excitement. I would be able to see much missed and much loved family that reside in Cape Town, to be able to surprise my mother and sister with a weekend on their door steps. I can not think of a greater surprise for the ones I love. Not to mention that I am well overdue for a break, when I say overdue I mean years, literally… Please please @cathjenkin & @TsogoSun make my dreams of going to Cape Town, my own mother’s city,a reality!

  32. 1.Oh the Drakensberg is calling me – Drakensberg Sun please! We had a very rough start to the year and I am already totally exhausted. L has not adapted well, it’s been tiring. We can do witha kid friendly breakaway.

  34. YES. I NEED A HOLIDAY. BADLY. My fiance has never been to the Drakensberg – so that’s where we’d go. One last weekend away before our peaceful existence is disturbed by a newborn. One last weekend of sleep, before months of sleeplessness.

    We need it. Did we mention that we need it *badly*?

  35. It would be a truly memorable experience if I could spend a weekend away at The Caledon Casino, Hotel and Spa with the most important people in my life. We haven’t done something like this as a family and just us 3. Every time there’s an outing or a weekend getaway then the rest of our relatives also tag along with. It would just be amazing to spend time with the two people that I love the most at a magical place like The Caledon. It would just be PERFECT.

  37. I would love to stay at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Umhlanga Rocks, Durban. I celebrated my birthday the weekend that passed, and I so much wanted to book a getaway, but was horribly unsuccessful, so I would love to use this prize as a getaway gift for my mum (who’s birthday is coming up soon) – We both could desperately use with a getaway, and I feel so bad that I didn’t deliver on the promise of a getaway for the weekend that passed, so I would love to use this prize to make up.

    Also I have always wanted to visit the gorgeous, one of a kind Beverly Hills Hotel overlooking the lovely Umhlanga Beach and lighthouse – it would be a dream come true for me, really!

  45. Oh harro preez! You’re doing this tooooo wheeeeeeeee. Shared and liked on Facebook and Twitter and all that jazz. So the word around here is that we totally need a weekend at the Palazzo Montecasino. I said to the boyf, what about somewhere closer though? Where we don’t have to drive for 12 hours or fly? This got met with a stare that could have sunk the titanic in the middle of a kalahari heat wave. When you haven’t had a holiday from work in a year, I guess you really want to get far away from it.
