for cam, on a tuesday

so ill spend all day working til my fingers bleed and my brain aches

masticating on life and

thinking, hoping, praying we make it through okay

i’m lightened by brilliant people and

laughter at the silliness at it all.

the telephone rings off it’s cradle and

i listen

and learn

and live through.

a maelstrom of over-information

grand plans that smack into the floor

egos that block the door.

i finally reach the finish line and

race to hold you in my arms.

At the end of the day,

when the dishes are done

the laundry hung

the bed made for the fifteenth time

yet another sticky mess cleaned from the walls…

you’re clean from your bath and

you ask for your favourite nightie

just as you fall asleep

you say

“i love you more than anything in the whole wide world. you are the most beautiful mama of ever”

it’s you that makes every moment worth it.
