a message to a friend

Posted on April 14, 2011

Someone very dear to me once told me to get angry.

I’m telling you this today.

Get angry. Anger gets you through it. Even when you think you can’t be angry anymore, stay angry. Anger gets you through it. Buoys you past the pain until you can bear to be sad.

When the time comes, be sad. Be unaccountably saddened by this betrayal. Trust nothing and noone but yourself. Feel that sadness, all the way through.

Feel that sadness until your favourite colour is blue. And I promise you, I promise, at the end of it, you’ll thank you.

Live for you. Screw everything else. Live for you. You’ve done it, you deserve it. All the good things you have given away, give to yourself, every single day.

I love you. I’m here. Whatever you need.

There are indeed times in one’s life when anger is essential.
